ACEMID Launches New Site in Orange, Australia, Featuring VECTRA® WB360 for World's Largest Melanoma Cohort Study

The Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging & Diagnosis (ACEMID) recently launched a new location with Pinnacle Dermatology, a specialized dermatology practice group in Orange, Australia. This marks ACEMID’s fourth regional site in New South Wales and its 14th in the country. As part of the world’s largest melanoma cohort study, Canfield’s VECTRA® WB360 whole-body imaging system will be utilized to further bolster dermatologic research in Australia, which has one of the highest skin cancer rates globally.

Representatives from all three levels of government for the area, including Orange Council, state government, and federal government, attended the official launch and witnessed the installation of the whole-body imaging system. This innovative system employs both cross-polarized and non-polarized lighting to generate incredibly detailed 3D images of the entire body in a single capture. Powered by Canfield's state-of-the-art DermaGraphix® software, these images are pivotal in the surveillance of pigmented lesions. Using 3D imaging technology, dermatologists and the staff at Pinnacle Dermatology can examine individual lesions, capture dermoscopic images, record data, and monitor patients over time. This is one more step towards developing effective preventative strategies and having a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to skin cancer.
